Sewing Workshops

Empowering women is at the heart of our mission. Because despite the progress made, women still encounter significant barriers: limited access to education and employment opportunities, alarming rates of violence affecting 65% of them, and adistressing prevalence of teen pregnancies, with 25% of all pregnancies in the region occurring to underage girls. We are committed to break these cycles of inequality by empowering women with the tools and opportunities they need to create a brighter future for them, their families, and communities.

In our sewing workshop, one of our inspiring women empowerment projects, creativity and craftsmanship come together. Martha who started in 2002 as a motivated student in our sewing class is now our highly skilled sewing instructor. With passion and expertise, she teaches invaluable sewing techniques and skills to motivated young girls and women. Together with her students Martha creates also vibrant and original souvenirs, that we sell to tourists to generate extra support for our projects and an income for these students.
